Mountain Meadows Primary

View of school campus from the outsideWelcome to Mountain Meadows Primary School! We believe that communication is a vital tool in your child’s education, and we hope you will visit this page often to keep you apprised of the daily happenings at our school. We are proud that the Arizona Department of Education has named us a “Highly Performing” school. This means that, based on state assessments, we meet or exceed the state performance and progress goals. This achievement is due to the awesome families whose children attend our school and the dedicated staff that strives for excellence in teaching these great kids. If you need to reach one of our staff members, please see our staff page.

Late Start Wednesday Schedule

The Heber-Overggard School District will be doing late start Wednesday's throughout the school year. MMP first through third grades will start at 10:30 a.m. on those days. That time frame will make the preschool and kindergarten morning sessions too short.

We have set up an alternating schedule for morning and afternoon preschool and kindergarten to come to school during the afternoon class time on those days. Please see the flyer below for more information.

Back to School Protocol

At our June 30, 2020, board meeting the board approved a back to school protocol for returning to school starting FY2021. In partnership with our parents and community, the Heber-Overgaard USD retains our commitment to providing a quality education for all of our students in a safe and nurturing environment. Our back to school protocol provides information on the following:

  • Return dates
  • Student responsibilities
  • Parent responsibilities
  • Teacher/staff responsibility
  • Start & end times for each school
  • Full-time digital learning options
  • And more

Please take the time to read our back to school protocol. Students report back to school on August 17. We look forward to the start of the school year!

Parent Teacher Committee

The Parent Teacher Committee is committed to the success of each student who attends our school. We host fundraisers that help support needed programs and equipment for our school. We will, together, work on issues that directly affect each child in our charge. Research shows that the more involved a parent or guardian is in their child’s education, the more successful that child will be. We meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 2:30 p.m. in room 108.

A Message from Our Principal

Dear Parents,

It is my pleasure to be a part of two schools known for their academic excellence at a state level and all the way down to our local level. I am delighted to be your principal at Mountain Meadows Primary School and Capps Middle School. Thank you for your support!

What a challenging past few months we have had in our communities across the nation. School will officially begin on Monday, August 10 with the first week being virtual. Watch for messages from your child's teacher as to how this will occur. In-person instruction will begin on Monday, August 17. We will take all necessary safety precautions and follow guidelines set forth by our state. Our classrooms will look and function a little different than they have in the past. Our staff will follow social distancing guidelines within their classrooms. We will require staff to wear a protective face mask when social distancing is unable to be met due to educational reasons. We encourage students to wear a face mask. We will issue each student a customized Mustang face mask. We made modifications to our cafeteria, playground schedules, library schedules, and rotation from class to class to minimize contact from one grade level to another. Capps and MMP will start school at 8:30 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m. to accommodate our modified busing schedule that will run at two different times to accommodate social distancing. Buses will pick up MHS/MJHS students first and drop off and then pick up K through six students and drop off for a school start time of 8:30 a.m. To minimize exposure, I am asking that if you drop your child off at school that you do so at the curb and refrain from entering the school building with your child. Also, there will be no early morning recess. Please do not drop your child off before 8:15 a.m.

Please read Principal Maner's entire K–6 back to school letter and the K–6 COVID procedures document.
