Insurance Benefits Summary


The district pays 100% of the cost of Basic Individual Medical Insurance Benefits for full time contracted employees. An employee may choose to upgrade coverage and/or add dependants to coverage for additional cost. The district will pick up a set portion of this cost for Medical and Dental coverage. 

Employees may participate in the following plans and/or programs on a voluntary basis

  • ASBAIT or VSP Vision Insurance
  • Trustmark Voluntary Benefit Solution (Life, Accident, Disability, Cancer, etc.)
  • Flexible Spending Accounts -Cafeteria Plan (Pre-tax)
  • Tax Deferred investment plans (Pre-tax)

Workers Compensation


The H-OUSD workers compensation program provides benefits to employees who are injured on the job, including payment of medical services and lost income.


Leave Benefits Summary


Certified Employees
Teachers are granted 10 days of Sick Leave, five of which may be used for Personal Leave

Administrators are granted 12 days of Sick Leave, five of which may be used for Personal Leave and 20 days of Annual Leave.

Classified Employees
10 Month Support Staff are granted 10 days of sick leave, 5 of which may be used as Personal Leave.  All leave is accrued according to the employee contract hours.

12 Month Support Staff are granted 12 days of Sick Leave five of which may be used for Personal Leave and 12 days of Annual Leave.

Severance Package


Unused leave buy-back policy per H-OUSD Policy GCCA
Contracted employees with a minimum of 1 day unused sick leave/personal leave will be bought back at a rate of $10.00 to $25.00 dollars a day with no maximum.

H-OUSD is a member of the Arizona State Retirement System.  H-OUSD early retirement program is intended to provide school employees with the opportunity to retire prior to age 70 while receiving a benefit that recognizes their contribution to the District.  Several requirements must be met including having worked with the district a minimum of 10 years.
